First of all, I just want to say THANK YOU to all of the lovely, caring and thoughtful readers that left me such positive comments yesterday. I was really feeling traumatized yesterday by the short length of my nails but this morning, I am happy to say, that I am feeling much better about them. It is much easier to type and take out my contacts now.
What a perfect opportunity, as a lot of you suggested, to break out the dark and vampy colors. I couldn't agree with you more! So I got out my big shoe box of untried polishes last night and picked out a perfect one: Zoya Sloane. I polished my nails with Zoya Sloane last night but snapped the pictures this morning at about 9:45 a.m. Pacific Time. The sun is out and shining strong this morning! Still a bit chilly here though. Although I cannot complain too much. My friends and family back in Michigan are getting hit with snow big time right now.
Zoya Sloane:
This is a gorgeous, deep, purple & vampy shimmer. I cannot believe that I had this one sitting in my untried box! This is the perfect color to rock on my new short nails. Although, even with long nails, I had no qualms about wearing colors like this. I guess now I am more "in style" or whatever now.
A bunch of you also suggested to me that this would be a great opportunity to track how fast my nails are growing as inspiration for all of the ladies that might be trying to grow out their nails. Great idea! I am going to call it "Nail Growth Watch 2009" (we only have 2 weeks of 2008 left ok). I would love to encourage all of you ladies who are trying to grow your nails out to participate with me and let me know how you are doing!
It was much harder than I thought it would be to take a picture of me measuring my nails. I really needed a 3rd hand for this. So this picture is just an approximation. I am going to use my left hand, middle finger, as the benchmark for "Nail Growth Watch 2009". Right now this nail is approximately a five eights of an inch long, measuring from cuticle to tip. I will post a new measurement once a week. I would love for all of you to participate with me! Let me know how you are doing each week in the comments.
Also, just a reminder, you have until Sunday night to enter my giveaway. Click here for all of the details.
Thanks again everyone for your support. I love you! Time to do some serious Christmas shopping now. I have not started yet.
xoxo,
Katee
I think your nails look gorgeous! I'm an accountant, and type A LOT, so I need to keep mine a manageable length too. That is a fabulous color BTW!

ReplyDeleteYour nails are gorgeous, do not worry about the length, they're longer than mine still! And you're right, the darker colors do look more chic on slightly shorter nails. ;-)
ReplyDeleteWow your nails are still amazing! Mine are slowly getting there thanks to your tips!
ReplyDeleteI never would of thought about the ruler method, so im going to give this a shot!
But where are you getting 1/2 inch? It looks like you are almost to 2 inches? lol.
Sasha - Thanks!! yes typing is much easier at this length.
ReplyDeleteVampy Kelly - thanks :) Are they really longer than yours still? I didn't think they were. I am also starting to agree w/you on the short nails/dark colors thing.
Posey - thanks doll :). Inches on the left/centimeters on the right. But I did amend my measurement to five eights of an inch.
They look Gorgeous! And that color - OMG! I so wish they were mine!
ReplyDeleteThanks Susan!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteOMG Katee..I am sooo laughing at you right now. I was getting ready to expect some nubbies but your nails look fantastic! So still have that beautiful shape and the important thing is that they are functional. Rock on, mama! Have a fab weekend!
ReplyDeleteLOL I didnt even notice a difference with your photo this morning, they look lovely as always Katee <3
ReplyDeleteB & Steph - I realize that I might have been a tad dramatic last night LOL. But seriously at the time yesterday I was feeling so traumatized!! They looked sooooo short and nubby yesterday. I am kind of over it now. Love you both.

Katee
They are lovely :) I was sorry to hear about your chopping :( I too had a "death" recently, and I can't grow my stumps as there is still one nail peeling really badly, but I will be watching your progress :)
ReplyDeleteKatee, the digits look divine today!
ReplyDeleteKatee, the digits look divine today!
ReplyDeleteLOL - I know exactly how you feel. I always end up cutting/filing mine way back every 2 months or so, just because the ends get ratty and "tired". Right now I'm typing with the tips hitting the keys, and thinking it's about time to take them short again.
ReplyDeleteI'm always in a hurry for them to grow out...and they always do, faster than I expect. Yours look gorgeous, as always, and I suspect they will no matter what length they are. But I bet you'll have nice long nails again in no time! :-)
Lovely color, that Sloane...
your nails look fab katee! :) love that color, too-- i'm so going to have to pick that one up!
ReplyDeleteLina-Elvira - lets chart our progress together!! Sending you good nail growing vibes.
ReplyDeleteNixxy - thanks doll!

Monique - thank you! No vampy lover should be w/out this color!

I think this is a ploy to get us all to comment on how amazingly perfect your nails are! :) But seriously, I love them when they're this length. I'm a short nail girl and yours are just perfect.
ReplyDeleteOh, and not to forget the most important part, I love your blog. Lot's of great info and my nails are stronger as a result, so thanks! :)
Your nails look lovely. It's kind of like how some people can pull off either short or long hair and still look stylish. That is a sassy color!
ReplyDeleteI was naughty today. I ordered all three Chanel Russies plus Vendetta from chanel.com. Maybe some day I will be good but I doubt it. ;)
Mackenzie - I swear, no ploy here LOL! I am so glad you like my blog :)
