Today I am bringing you part two of my OPI South Beach Collection swatches for Spring/Summer 2009. The more I use and play with these nail polishes, the more I love them!
OPI Done Out In Deco:
Gorgeous lilac creme. Need I say more? Ok, I will. This color is fabulous.
Paint My Moji-Toes Red:
Rosy red creme. Not my thing, but there is nothing wrong with this color either. This is one of those colors that falls into the category of something that my mom, sister and best friend would love.
OPI Clubbing Til Sunrise:
Frosty orange with golden shimmer. I think Clubbing Til Sunrise is the prefect name for this color because when I was swatching it, I definitely thought of the sun. If I have not said this before, I'll say it now - how the heck does OPI come up with these names? I love them! OPI always comes up with the most clever and witty names for their nail polishes. I don't know how they do it.
OPI Suzi & The Lifeguard:
Cool pink shimmer. This is a very girly color! A great opaque pink for those of you that do not like sheer pinks. My sun stopped cooperating during the swatching, so for now, this is not the best swatch of this shade. I will update later when the sun comes out again.
OPI Miami Beet:
Dark raspberry colored creme. I absolutely LOVE this color! My picture does not do it justice. This color is really a few shades darker than this picture suggests. For some reason, colors like this always appear lighter in photographs than they really do in real life.
OPI Conga-Line Coral:
Rosy orange shimmer. I think this is a shade that my girlfriends with darker skin will be able to rock more successfully than I. But still very pretty!
Ok, so now for my overall thoughts on this collection. I'll be the first to admit, when I saw the promo pics for this collection, I was feeling let down and underwhelmed. But now that I have had a chance to swatch all of the colors, I think this collection has something for everyone. For lovers of pinks, purples, and summer brights, this collection does not disappoint. OPI also threw in a few colors that are different enough to satisfy those with tastes that fall outside of the mainstream. I know that some of you are disappointed with the lack of a green or blue shade, but hey, all collections can't be everything to everyone. But seriously, the tie in for a blue color in this collection entitled South Beach would have been soooooo perfect! Either a pale art deco blue or something vivid and shimmering like the ocean. Oh well! But even me, with my tastes for "different" colors, I still found plenty (see below) that I feel are MUST HAVES.
Katee's MUST HAVES from the OPI South Beach Collection, in no particular order:
OPI Sand In My Suit
OPI Done Out In Deco
OPI OPI On Collins Ave
OPI Overexposed In South Beach
OPI Miami Beet
OPI Feelin' Hot-Hot-Hot!
Those are my MUST HAVES, colors that I will be rockin' this summer on both tips and toes.
If you missed the first half of my OPI South Beach Collection swatches, make sure to check them out here. This collection hits store shelves February 4, 2009.
OK, now that you have seen all of the swatches, I want to know what colors you are feeling! I am really curious, so let me know in the comments.
That is all for now. I hope you enjoyed the swatches.
xoxo,
Katee
I am all over Done Out In Deco! The others I am not totally in love with...
ReplyDeleteI think in the whole collection the only one that I really want is Overexposed. was curious if you know how Miami Beat and something like Belize it or Not compare...
ReplyDeleteI looove Done Out In Deco!
ReplyDeletelove miami beet too! How does done out in deco compare to parlez vous opi? And also I already own I only drink champagne and glamour game, do you think I can justify owning sand in my suit too?
ReplyDeleteThe swatches are fabulous all the colours look great on you!
I've just looked again at the enlarged pics, I also really like suzi and the lifeguard, very pretty! Thats four now on my wishlist! There goes my new year resoloution to cut back on nail polish purchases!
ReplyDeleteI love Done Out In Deco. I wanted to have lilac for the summer and here it is!
ReplyDeleteBut is not it a bit similar with Parlez_Vous OPI which I own already?
I still want Chanel lilac from Rodeo Drive, eh....
Again, your shots for these OPI South Beach colors has changed my mind on them. While I'm still not convinced they well represent SB, they are pretty - and I thank you for sharing them. :-)
ReplyDeleteDone out in Deco!!!!!
ReplyDelete....that is all. :) Have a great weekend, Katee
ok I am officially in love with Miami Beet and Decked out in Deco. OMG these are the most FAB colors!! Can't wait til they come out!!
ReplyDeleteVampy - I hear ya!
ReplyDeleteStyrch - Overexposed is a good one. I don't have belize to compare, sorry :(
Delta - ITA, Deco rocks!
Alison - I love beet!! PVO and Deco are not really even close. PVO is darker and dusty. You need both. Same thing with Sand/Glamour Game. Not dupes, so if you like shades in that family, I would get both. I am going to be doing comparison swatches of all of these soon.
Anna - Nope, definitely get Deco if you like it. PVO is darker and dustier. Compare pics coming soon. I never got that Chanel but it sure looks pretty.
Karina - Thanks! I hear ya. I don't know that they really represent SB. But I definitely ended up liking these compared to the promo pics.
B - have a great weekend too :)
itzzzkim - those are 2 of my favorites, love them! Especially beet, you won't be disappointed.
xoxo,
Katee
i think overall-- a great collection! very south beach, indeed! :) thanks for the fabulous swatches! i think i would choose, just based on the pictures, Sand In My Suit, Overexposed in South Beach, Miami Beet and Suzie & The Lifeguard...maybe Done Out In Deco (the more i look at it, the more i like it!) :)
ReplyDeleteFrom this set, I think Suzi & the Lifeguard, Miami Beet, and the Coral...Suzi & Beet would be great worn together I think.
ReplyDeleteThanks again for great pictures!
Done Out in Deco is the only one that does anything for me. Although these colors are attractive, they give me that "I've seen this before" feeling. Great concept with the theme, but the actual colors don't really capitalize on it.
ReplyDeleteMmmm...those are all yummy colors Katee! I can't believe you already got a hold of them! Lucky you! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd in regards to red lipstick , I'm still convinced you can wear it, it's all about the perfect shade. You know, just like the nail polishes! Right? Not everyone can wear the same red nail polish, but once you find that perfect shade , you are set! :)
Are you still not convinced? :( LOL
Have a lovely weekend darling!
Muah! :)
yay! I felt like I was the only one that was at least a bit excited about these when I saw the promo pics! And now I AM excited about them! They look freakin' hot!:D Thanks for showing us!
ReplyDeletexoxo
Monique - I totally agree! All lovely choices for sure.
ReplyDeleteJamie - Excellent choices too! Aw heck, really any of these are good choices :)
Garnetstorm - Deco is a good color 4 sure. I actually did not have a lot of pinks and corals in my collex so this was a good one for me.
Mimi - I hear ya! I do need to find a red shade that works for me. p.s. love that red coat in the glamour feature. so hot!
Sanna - I was one of those non excited people, but now that I have seen these in person, I am definitely a fan!

Katee
Done Out in Deco is nice, but I feel like I've seen it a million times before. How does it differ from other lilacs out there? (Just as a note: I love lilacs, so I don't need much convincing... but honestly this one seems dupey.)
ReplyDeleteOh I totally love suzi & the lifeguard. Maybe I'll get one or two more polishes from this collex, but overall I'm not really excited.
ReplyDeleteEmelie - glad you at least found one or two that you liked! Oh well ;) More fabulous spring collections yet to come!
ReplyDeleteHi Ladyslatternly! To be honestly w/you, I have never been big into lilac colors like this lately, so I don't even have anything that is a close dupe to Deco. Guess you need to get it LOL!
xoxo,
Katee
Done Out in Deco…OMG. I’m looking to complete my pastel crèmes collection, and this would be the perfect lilac! Now I just need a yellow!
ReplyDeleteMelvel - check out Zoya Creamy for a good, pale yellow. Do you know that one?
ReplyDeleteKatee
Hi, i was just browsing through your post and i have to say it's great. I was just wondering whether you know of an OPI shade that is similar to Shades by Barielle Beaches & Dreams. As i am from Australia and we don't have Barielle brand here???
ReplyDeleteNot Really a Waitress is my favorite red!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous - OPI Pistol Packin Pink and Dulce de Leche might be close!
ReplyDeleteI'm deliberating on whether to wildly treat myself to the whole collection, and I've just found you amazing posts! Thank you so much. I think you've helped me make up my mind!
ReplyDeleteOMG! Thank you so much for the swatches. I've yet to get the chance to check these out yet IRL. I'm in love with Done Out In Deco already. =D
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for doing this blog! I have to order all my OPI online and I frequently get colors I don't like as it's hard to tell from the bottle pic online. Your pics made my choices so much easier!
ReplyDeleteI have 2 bottles of Done out in Deco, is Do you Lilac it too close or should I pick it up?
ReplyDeletewow im wearing the done out in deco on my nails right now - love the color..im going to post pics of my nails on my blog later today...check it out if you can
