Sad Day In e-polisblogville

Hi Everyone,

I am feeling kind of sad right now. I chopped my nails off :(  My nails recently have been longer than they have ever been in my life. As beautiful as I thought they were, they were making it difficult to type on my MacBook and also difficult to take my contact lenses out. I actually poked myself in the eye badly this morning. Something just came over me this afternoon and without even thinking, I grabbed the clippers and just started chopping. I cut them way shorter than I wanted to. Clippers are evil, don't use them. But I was filing with the crystal file and it seemed that I just wasn't getting anywhere.

My nails aren't total nubs now, but they are a lot shorter than I wanted and I am feeling really upset about it right now. Please leave me some nice comments telling me it will be ok.

I'll post pictures in the next day or two. I was going to post pics earlier but I was so upset I couldn't even paint my nails. I tried 4 different times and just kept screwing them up. I know it might seem silly or trivial to some of you reading this that I am so upset about nails. But I am.

So if you want to leave me a nice comment now I would really appreciate it :) I'll be back, probably tomorrow, with pictures.

xoxo,
Katee

  1. You are the exact opposite of me. I get irritated when I let my nails get too long as I prefer to keep them as short as I can. I usually end up kicking myself after I cut them short as well as that is usually when I find out I have to try to pry one of my keys off of my key ring or something.

They don't take long to grow back quickly, so you will be able to have them right where you like them soon enough. Patience is a virtue!

  2. Oh noooo! It's okay, darling. They will grow faster than you think. You can be the testimony to ladies with the shorter nails. They will see your progress and have hope! You'll be fine. Put a smile on your face! :)

  3. I try to enjoy typing while they're short! The shorter the nails, the faster the typing...
Also, you can perhaps keep track of the growth, it'll be useful to know exactly how long it takes to grow them long again.

  4. Oh Katee.... I understand...! They will grow very soon!

Take care - tomorrow will be better!

  5. You are just having a bad day, it happens to everyone. It will pass. Try doing something to get your mind off of your life and your nails, like meditation or a funny movie.

  6. We'll pour out some liquor for your cut-off nails...may they rest in peace. LOL! But really, I'm sure your nails will look great short and you know it will be temporary.

  7. Oh no :( I hate when things like that happen! I actually threw out my clippers because I make way too many mistakes with them.

And being upset about your nails isn't silly at all! Mine are really important to me and affect my self-esteem, so if I'm unhappy about them it brings me down a bit.

Don't worry though, before you know it, they'll be long again!

  9. Everyone needs a fresh start now and then - whether with nails, hair, or throwing out your entire closet of clothes after watching What Not To Wear!

And I agree with Marie about tracking the growth of your nails. This could be useful blog material!

And, also, I'm pretty sure they still look great!

  10. Poor Katee poos :( At least they grow back!

  11. They will grow faster than you realize. The best thing you can do is put some polish on there and try too keep that color on there for a few of days. When you go to take it off you will be amazed at how quickly your nails have grown.

I prefer to keep mine on the shorter side because of how much computer work I do but looking at your swatches inspires me to grow them a little longer each time before I take out my crystal file.

Don't worry, it will work out. They may seem short but this will be good in the long run. Your nails are in amazing shape to begin with but now you have a great opportunity to really keep it all strong and fabulous as they grow :)

  12. Aww...no worries. You still have beautifully shaped nails, so now you can be a model for girls who want shorter nails! :)

  13. Don't worry katee! As healthy as your nails are they will grow out before you know it and will be longer and stronger than before. Just think of all the dark vampy colors that rock on short nails

  14. With your short nails you are in the good company of np loving girls all over the world. My nails were also nice and long and then one broke and then a second one and so on. Eventually the different lengths just looked so ridiculous that I filed them all down. They are growing back remarkably fast.
And just think: with short nails you can rock those vampies for a while!

  17. Your nails are soooooooo gorgeous and they will grow back in no time. You'll see! I love reading your blog! And I won't stop reading it because your nails are shorter ;)

My advice to you don't touch your clippers again ;)))) It's evil stuff!

  18. Awwww girl!! :) It will be ok, I'm sure they still look hot short. Plus they'll grow back super fast since you cut off the old.
As much as I love long beautiful nails I've finally came to the realization it's not for me espically with typing all the time. I think you need to console yourself with a bottle of vendetta. :) xoxo

  19. Think of your nails as tiny seashells. You know how when you walk along the beach and pick up a little shell and it's so sweet and delicate. Think of your nails that way. :)

  20. Awww, hun. It'll be fine. Short nails are much more trendy. I'm seriously considering chopping mine off too!

  21. Its okay:) You get to experience with shorter nails and before you know it they will be long again. It's good to cut away the old nails anyway and start fresh with new nails. Keep your chin up.

  22. You may have short nails (which will always grow back) but your cuticles are in great shape!!

  23. I recently found your blog and love it. Especially all the polish swatches. It been a big help with picking out polish colors. Sorry to hear about your nails being shorter then expected. It must be sad to see them shorter then expected :( But at least you aren't biting them off so that's a good thing :)

Crystal files are great for finish filing...taking off the little bits that snag on your clothes, etc. But they aren't coarse enough to remove length. The grit number (which indicates how coarse a file is) on most crystal files is 180. Look for files that are labeled as 100 grit to remove the nail length quickly.

  24. I like short nails so much better!!! The dark and super bright colors tend to look so over the top on long nails! Rock the darks and brights now!

  25. you should see my nails right now... my right hand s gorgeous and my left are little stubbs because are started to bite them... gross. Yesterday and forced myself to put some clear polish and growth protein on--we'll grow them back together!

  27. Katee, variety is the spice of life! You will actually have fun with your shorter nails, trying out the vampy colors that maybe you wouldn't have done before.

Then they'll grow out again and you will appreciate them even more!

You always have 'perfect' nails, whatever the length!! : )
